"This is huge for the Treasure Valley," said Wood.
There will be two games at the speedway featuring Club Deportivo Guadalajara, usually referred to by its nickname Las Chivas, Monarcas, all stars from the Seattle Sounders, and Real Salt Lake.
"It's just one more activity and something else to offer the Treasure Valley that no other city is offering," said Wood.
Organizers are bringing in 2,000 extra seats to accommodate the crowds they're expecting, up to 8,000 people.
"We're looking forward to this giant event that could quite possibly be the largest sporting event ever held in Meridian," said Prado.
Friday's game features the first reserve team of Chivas, a Guadalajara-based Mexican professional club against a team from Tacoma, Wash., that is a feeder to the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders.
OK, that would be the Tacoma Tide, I guess...but the Tide have a home match with Ogden this Friday...
I see the Timbers are going to travel there July 6th, if the article can be believed.
There's nothing to any of this - the Seattle Sounders will have nothing to do with any tournament, match, or clinic in Boise, ID.
Thanks Bart for the clarification. Although, I do think that your statement improves the chances of this being nominated for the worst news story of the year. Two of the major factors in earning a nomination are that the story does not make sense and that it is not true.
Bravo to Shayne Wells for seemingly locking up a nomination.
That was a wind up by jade, pure and simple. When was the last time MLSRumors (i.e. jade) got ANYTHING right? Plus, since she's not a journalist, she's not eligible, unfortunately.

The source for that rumor was Kenn Tomasch and his blog. He said he heard it from someone within MLS, so it was making the rounds in New York. I can't give Jade that much credit.
