Continue the talk...
Update: I received an email today from a 'source' who was pretty mad at me (GOALSeattle) for 'breaking' this rumor...
Did your "contact" forget to mention to you that you were supposed to keep quiet until the day before the signing of Ljungberg as DP at the end of the month or did you choose to ignore the wishes of the organization?
What to make of this? Should I *not* be passing along rumors? IS Ljungberg coming at the end of October?

OK, I did respond to the email above:
My 'contact' mentioned it as a rumor, which we have made clear. If he is being signed, no one will know for sure until the club announces it. However, your reaction makes me think the rumor has some validity.
No one involved with Sounders FC has spoken with me about any of the rumors we post.

Not quite sure what to make of this one. If his knees are healthy then the lad would be well worth it. If not, then he'll be the first signing SSFC will grow to regret. I also understand that towards the end he didn't have much grit for Arsenal and would sit out for minuscule problems. That was part of the reason they sold him.

It seems like Thierry Henry was the top DP pick, but that it may not happen. It is interesting to note the similarities between Henry and Ljungberg:
1. Both former Arsenal 2. Both with recent injuries 3. Both showing a dip in form and productivity 4. Both with off-pitch personas
Meanwhile, a conversation this morning dropped this name as 'still out there' and wanting a new club. Hernan Crespo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hern%C3%A1n_Crespo
Released from Chelsea in July 2008. Wants out of Inter Milan.
Gee, and the Sounders are headed to Argentina in a week or so...
Hey Koolkeith, that conversation was with you!
Edit: the more I read about Crespo, the more of a head case he seems...

can somebody tell me how to at least say freddie's last name? sound it out for me, i'm apparently an idiot that can't understand his wikipedia page's explanation.
that being said, i'm in favor of freddie, i just want to see defense be a priority after this. beckham and donovan have to be exhibit 1 in why you don't build around only offensive stars in this league.

Freddy Montero Update, Oct. 15
This translated link says his club's got the Sounders bid to consider, but also a recent injury in the Argentine league makes him a candidate to be a replacement there.

| Unless you were told not to repeat something, I don't see that you've done anything wrong. You did say 'rumor' all along, after all. And if someone blows their poker face with their response to what was stated as rumor...
And if the Ljundberg thing does prove to be true, telling ahead of time isn't really that big a deal. This is about the same notice everyone had of the Keller signing, which was announced in Sports Illustrated, for crying out loud, before the club made the announcement. And it still didn't seem to spoil the announcement any. Most people aren't paying attention, after all.

Hernan Crespo has been a fantastic goalscorer throughout his career and really should have won more in his career, very good player and would stroll the MLS.
As for Ljunberg, he is finished. He was poor towards the end of his Arsenal career and done absolutely nothing for West Ham (apart from cost them around 300k per game).

the announcer in that vid tends to say lun-berg. while i understand it to have more of a Y sound at the beggining.
lyung - berg with not much emphasis on the L
it is pretty much a sound that we aren't used to making in english, but I think that is as accurate as it gets.

Yea, totally agree. As long as you're not butchering it by saying JUNG-berg no one'd notice =D

| Hmm... I'm not good at spelling it, but the Norwegian* in me would pronounce it... Yoong-Bayh
* #1- yes I know he's Swedish * #2- it's been 20 years
Just don't say BERG!

Nice! Definitely not a hard G on the end. This would all feel silly if he did not sign...
